How do I change the Vista boot options for a Dual Boot system?

Windows Vista incorporates a new bootloader, which can be edited through the bcdedit utiltity. Sort the Programs or Favorites menu in Alphabetical order

Installing applications or hand-modifying the Programs or Favorites menu can break their sort order. If you have IE5 installed, right click on any item on the menu and select 'Sort by Name'. For IE4 you will need to delete the registry value 'Order' from the key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder\Start Menu\Menu] or [[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder\Favorites\Menu] respectively for the Programs menu or Favorites menu.

Bypass Windows Update registration

My modem takes a long time to connect to my ISP and I get 'Verifying user name and password...' twice!

Your dial-up networking connection is not set up correctly for dialing up to an ISP. Bring up the properties of the connection and uncheck 'Log on to network'. I cannot access my attachments in Outlook Express after I have installed IE6 SP1 / Windows XP SP1

Microsoft have, by default, disabled access to attachments with certain file extensions. Luckily it is quite easy to disable - just go Tools/Options/Security and uncheck 'Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus'.

I cannot access my attachments in Outlook 2000 / Outlook 2002

Outlook 2002 (XP) and Outlook 2000 SP3 (but not earlier Outlook 2000 versions, or previous releases of Outlook) allow the user access to blocked attachments by changing a registry key.

Outlook 2002:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Security]

Outlook 2000 SP3:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Outlook\Security]

Add a new String value:
Level1Remove

Add a semicolon-delimited list of file extensions under this value, e.g.:
exe;mdb;url
